Twitter – how are you using it to grow/promote your business?

November 26, 2008

For the last couple of months I’ve been using the Social Networking tool Twitter. I’m still a novice but have, in a short time, developed a solid understanding of how this tool can connect me with thought-leaders, drive traffic to my site, give  me a way to communicate with my community and a whole lot more.

In fact, Twitter has become a great connector for me.

Tomorrow I’m being interviewed by a national publication on Twitter and its uses for small business. I’d love to be able to relay your story!

I’d love to use members and blog visitors stories in my interview.

So… how do you use it to drive business, networking, to market your products? Comment and let me know!

Oh, you can also follow me on Twitter:-)

“When I decided I was going to make something of my business…. I decided to re-join the Australian Businesswomen’s network and to find like-minded people… The best thing for me this year was the MentorNet program…”  Annalisa Holmes

Wisdom. What is it?

November 25, 2008

Wisdom – what is it?  This clip features some big names, and some bigger names talking about wisdom.

I liked this quote: “You can’t get to wonderful without going to alright”.

Nice.

Watch it and see what YOU think.

Twitter – what is it? A new book puts this social networking tool in black and white.

November 24, 2008

If you’re up on your social networking then you’ll know that Twitter is just one of the many tools for staying ’social’ and being a part of the social networking scene. I recently read this (only?) book on Twitter. It’s called Twitter Revolution.

Twitter Revolution - Deborah Micek and Warren Whitlock

Twitter Revolution: How Social Media and Mobile Marketing is Changing the Way We Do Business & Market Online. Great guide to why Twitter has become so popular so quickly and what you can do about it, learning how you can use this tool to your advantage today. Good resources, tools and references.

Do you expect your business to grow next year?

November 21, 2008

A recent poll of our Australian readers showed these results in response to the question:

What will be the biggest issue for women business owners in 2009?

  • economy/credit crunch – 72%
  • compliance (BAS, Superannuation, OH&S) – 6%
  • staff shortages – 6%
  • childcare – 17%

Today a new UK survey has revealed that 88 per cent of women are forecasting business growth between now and 2013, while just 74 per cent of men are doing the same.

So, what will it be for you? At the Australian Businesswomen’s Network we believe that now is the time to look for opportunities to innovate, to connect, to collaborate and to market, market, market your business. Hard times can be a opportunity for small business (which has the ability to move quickly, change direction, delve into a niche at lightning speed) to grow and expand.

Whether it’s by necessity or desire, what can you do to put your business in the position to grow and prosper in the new year?
