Change: Are You Resisting the Flow, Going with the Flow or Creating Flow?

Every day, the business world we operate in changes dynamically. Often, we resist the flow (think about the huge outcry over Facebook’s recent changes), sometimes we go with the flow (mostly when we don’t care enough either way about what’s changing) and occasionally we actually create the flow!
As business leaders, we need to step up and create flows that are going to deliver what we desire for our businesses. We can’t afford to wait and we definitely can’t afford to resist. We can create change or we can be at the effect of change… it is always our choice!
Creating flow means we take what is and we look at our choices and possibilities.
We ask questions about what could be, rather than coming to conclusions about what should be. We get comfortable with creating from a space of ambiguity, unpredictability and the unknown. We start to create from chaos rather than comfort. We step past the fear and into a space of choice.
I wake up every morning and look at what could be different for my businesses. What could change that I haven’t been aware of until this moment? What I could create from these changes that would be a contribution to the world and that would create flow in my business in ways I haven’t seen before?
Because I am willing to address every sticky point I come across in my businesses as soon as they arise, I rarely find sticky bits.
My business systems and processes are in a constant state of change.
If something is not working for the business or for me, I change it. I am not attached to the past and I’m certainly not attached to being ‘right’!! The ‘way we do things around here’ evolves each and every day.
This constant state of movement creates a different type of flow to what we have been used to. I call it ‘following the energy’ because I’m not creating change for the sake of it, but I am creating change in response to the possibilities and potentials I am aware of at any time.
Yes, it is an intuitive approach to business; no, it doesn’t come with a guarantee.
…but then neither does the world we do business in. Welcome to the new world order. Create possibilities from the chaos. Take the actions that generate potentials you desire. Manage your risk and enjoy the adventure. This is the new flow in business… it’s more white water rafting than slowly meandering creek! Resistance is futile.
