I bit the bullet and spent money on the Small Business Big Brand Marketing Challenge by Carolyn Stafford of Connect Marketing http://www.connectmarketing.com.au – her next one starts in 5 May and it’s well worth it!
From the first day when the “challengers” suggested simple (free) changes like adding my photo to my website to increase customer confidence, other things like beginning a birthday card program, then the slightly more involved workload of doing a blog and Twitter updates, to the weekly teleconferences with specialists in areas like social networking, SEO, media and so on, the 3 x -one-hour mentoring sessions with Carolyn as well as the secure Wiki where we could confidentially and confidently post requests for suggestions/feedback on our ideas – it was great!
You just can’t cut your marketing spend in these times.
I’d also suggest people check out http://www.helpareporter.com where you receive 3x daily lists of reporter/blogger requests which are great to deal with journalists really wanting to hear from you on a certain topic. This is also a lovely way to network with others in different industries when I see relevant topics for them.
